Carrd : best affordable (or free) website builder

It’s still a good idea to have your own landing page, and not be fully dependent on social media. I have built my landing page on one hand as a ‘link in bio’ for social media and on the other hand as a ‘digital playground’

In the past I have used Wordpress, and recently I have also build sites using Canva. However what I like most is building websites with Carrd. Carrd is a free website builder (for up to 3 sites) or $19 per year for up to 10 sites (including use of your own domain) So even in the paid version very much affordable.

Carrd sites are single page sites, but as they have strong navigation options, it is easy to create sites that appear multi-page (even though they are loaded as a single page, so don'’ go too crazy)

Carrd has options to include audio & video. Also slideshows and galleries can be created. It's easy to create links to social sites. And I noticed the quantity of icons outnumbers most other website builders. I had no problem linking to Mastodon, Pixelfed and even Polarsteps. Also the number of available fonts is enorm.

Building a website can be done quickly. It's all pretty straightforward. And if you want to do more complex things, there are some great tutorials on YouTube. Especially when you need a landing page for an activity or single purpose it'’ easy to create a usable website in less than an hour.

Isn’t there any room for improvement? Well, creating a website on mobile isn’t as smooth as in a desktop browser. A mobile app would be a great contribution to allow for quick updates on the go. Overall if you want to be able to create straightforward websites, Carrd is the best choice.
